I’ve toured a number of prestigious schools this admissions cycle, but my experience visiting Top Place University in November was so positive that I quickly decided TPU was my dream school. After my visit, I couldn’t wait to call my wife and tell her that TPU has “my kind of people” and that it is “my kind of place.” Let me illustrate.

When I was a little confused as I was looking for a class I was scheduled to attend, a student was quick to help me and even guided me personally to the classroom. Afterwards, he gave me his email address and invited me to contact him if I had any questions. I was impressed by his generosity. But it gets better. One of the girls in the class noticed that I was visiting, so she briefed me on the content of the class for the day, gave me her textbook so that I could read about the case to be discussed, and let me retain her book for the entire class period so that I could use it for reference while she shared the textbook of her classmate. Nearly every person I met was friendly. I immediately felt a connection with the students––they’re my kind of people.

I loved the Criminal Law class taught by professor Chalmers! He masterfully teased out ideas from students as we discussed the case of Maria Cook and her insanity plea. I was so fascinated and engaged that I had to sit on my hand to prevent it from shooting in the air in a nearly reflexive desire to contribute to the discussion. I found myself wishing I had the chance to read the rest of the information and join the class for the remainder of the semester.

After the class, I went back to the admissions office for the student-led tour. Our guide, Troy, did a great job of leading the tour and representing the character of the university. He even knew where my hometown of Greyville is because he spent the night there once.

I love the TPU honor code, which is similar to Greyville University’s code. As Troy explained, the code is such a part of the TPU ethos that people leave laptops and money unattended for hours without worrying about theft. This is my kind of place!

In my preparation for law school, I’ve been somewhat frightened by the horror stories I’ve heard from students who faced the adversarial atmosphere that prevails in many law schools. But TPU is so much different—so much better—that I could see myself truly loving my time there. If you will admit me, I will immediately pay my deposit and prepare my family for a move to Top Place Town.
