Isn’t it all just a numbers game? Do I really need Admissions Consulting?
Every year, law schools have to choose between thousands of students with comparable GPAs and LSAT scores. The only way they can do this is by considering each applicant’s story. That’s why your essays matter. Admissions officers can and do reject 180-scorers because their written materials are lifeless, and at the same time they accept students who are below both medians because their essays are extraordinary.
What makes 7Sage different?
We’re the only law school admissions consultants who pair students with an admissions officer AND a professional writer (and a dedicated proofreader, too). You’ll get the advice you need from people who are actually qualified to give it. Your admissions officer will tell you what really happens on the other side of the desk and explain how to make yourself stand out. Your writer will help you execute that strategy on the page. Most importantly, you’ll have a warm, supportive, informal relationship with your team. Talk to us as much as you like, send us a thousand emails, ask us to review your résumé for the nineteenth time—we’re there for you.
What’s it like to work with a 7Sage writer?
We start with a conversation. Your writer will want to know everything you’re willing to tell them about your background, interests, and life experiences. Then we’ll think together about how to leverage those experiences in your essays. Starting with the personal statement and then moving to the other essays, we’ll talk you through every stage of the drafting process, from brainstorming essay topics and outlining to rigorous developmental revisions of complete drafts. Later in the process, we’ll offer thorough line edits and scrutinize every word. We won’t just add commas or suggest synonyms (that’s proofreading, although we do that too). We’ll think about tone, style, pacing, and voice. This is your one chance to speak directly to admissions officers. We’ll make sure you get it right.
How long does it take? Am I too late or too early?
Typically, our clients finish the core written documents (personal statement, lived experience essay, resume, supplementals) in 8-10 weeks. But don’t worry: it’s absolutely possible to finish faster if you’re in a rush, and if life gets in the way, we have you covered for the whole cycle. Some clients will start as early as March or as late as December, and we’ve seen success with all different sorts of timelines.
What’s the right package for me?
If you’re looking for the most comprehensive assistance possible, Admissions Consulting Plus is your best bet. You’re paired with an admissions officer and a writer, and the package covers up to 15 schools and includes after-app support (waitlists, interviews, scholarship negotiations, etc.), in addition to other substantial perks. Admissions Consulting covers 5 schools, but features the same dual-consultant model and the same commitment to seeing you through the entire cycle with no limits on emails, meetings, and other communication between you and your consultants. If it’s later in the cycle or you strongly feel that you don’t need post-app support or strategic advice about your applications, Writing Consulting might be right for you. You’ll work one-on-one with a writer on every document you need to complete for up to 5 schools.
How will I be paired with a consultant?
Your relationship with your consultant(s) is by far the most important aspect of our program, and we understand that fit and personal style are just as important as expertise. When you sign up, we’ll send you an intake form where you can indicate everything from your availability to your work style, school goals, and personal background. We’ll try to match you with a consultant who best fits your needs. If, for whatever reason, you feel that you need a different consultant, we’ll accommodate one switch, no questions asked.
Do you offer combined admissions and tutoring packages?
Yes, and we also offer discounts for those who bundle admissions consulting and tutoring. Learn more by signing up for a free consult.
Do you help with Canadian, transfer, or LLM applications?
For Canadian and transfer applications, absolutely. We’re also happy to work on your LLM applications with you as long as they are roughly the same length as an average JD application. Just note this preference in your response to the welcome email and we'll pair you with consultants who are experienced with those application types.
How long do I get to work with you?
Admissions Consulting and Admissions Consulting Plus cover you until you commit to a school or until the last day of August that follows your application submission. Writing Consulting covers you until you finish submitting your fifth application. (See here for more information.)
How do payment plans work?
We split the purchase price into a set of monthly payments. You pay the first today, and then we'll bill you each month until you're paid up. No interest, no shady terms, and no third-party companies. Note: once you buy, you are obligated to complete all the payments.
Is there a refund policy?
We have a qualified 6-day refund policy. If you change your mind, let us know within 6 days of payment to get a full refund less $250 per hour of our consultants’ work time and a 6% processing fee.
