I would first like to take this opportunity to thank you for reviewing my application and qualifications. After receiving your notification that I was placed on the waitlist for UCLA Law, I became instantly excited and felt a sense of hope that my lifelong journey to be a member of your prestigious school is finally coming into fruition.

Your well established law school is perfectly in sync with what I am looking for as a student. At no other school could I have the potential opportunity to learn from distinguished faculty such as Richard Steinberg as part of the Samuel Diana Jenkins Clinic on Gender Violence in Eastern Congo. After reading about this amazing program I instantly became inspired to learn more and hopefully join this project in aiding those around the world. The potential to create a positive impact on those suffering hardship is something that truly attracts me to UCLA Law School.

Since applying to UCLA Law, I have started taking private lessons to learn my native language, Russian. Although I was born in Dagestan, I was only a Russian resident for the first few years of my life. On another note, I am also in the process of joining Bay Area Legal Aid. Their program targets aiding those who have experienced domestic violence, which I experienced first-hand from my violent father. I hope that I will be able to empathize with these victims, and take these experiences with me as I pursue my career in law.

It is my goal in life to better serve my community by providing legal aid to those affected by violence. I know how it feels to be lost, abused, and made to feel like you are worth nothing. I have pushed myself to be the best that I can, and use that negativity as a lever to catapult my way to the top. Your institution can mold me into the attorney that I need to be to help those who cannot help themselves. If you choose me, I will forfeit all other acceptances and be highly honored to be a student at UCLA Law. Once again, I greatly appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.
