Application requirements
You are required to submit a personal statement. Capital Law does not require adherence to a particular prompt; an applicant may choose to explore whichever subject they so choose. You may explore why you wish to attend law school, a memorable experience, a personal story - we encourage you to be personal and introduce yourself to the Admission Committee. We value learning about your perspective, worldview, and what unique perspectives you would bring to our student body. We encourage you to explore your individuality. The personal statement gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself beyond quantitative factors such as the LSAT score, academic grade point average, and information reflected on your resume. Your statement should be no longer than two pages in length, double-spaced. As strong written communication is valuable in the legal field, we encourage you to spend adequate time proofreading, editing, and finessing this portion of your application.
This section is optional.
Applicants may include optional written statements and essays. These written statements might be presented as a statement regarding the unique perspective you would bring as a student, a Why Capital Statement, an explanation of grades or LSAT scores, or another optional statement of the applicant's choosing. We welcome you to include an optional statement, should you determine it will benefit your application. We encourage optional statements to be no longer than one page in length, double-spaced.
Capital University Law School requires all applicants to submit a resume with their application. Your resume must include the following information:
- A chronological list of all undergraduate and professional institutions you have attended. Please include the name of the institution, the location of the institution, dates of attendance, major and degree, semester/quarter hours, and approximate GPA.
- A chronological list of your last five years of employment. Include your title, name and location of employer, and dates of employment. You may also include a brief statement summarizing each position. You should feel comfortable sharing, and are encouraged to share, full-time, part-time, volunteer, and unpaid employment.
- A list of all academic honors and awards received post high school.
- A list of extracurricular and community activities and leadership positions held, if any.
Answer each of the following questions YES or NO. If you answer YES, you must submit a supplemental electronic attachment which fully describes the date(s) and details of the disclosed act or event (see Attachments section). If a new event(s) or change in circumstance(s) should arise after you submit this application, you are REQUIRED to submit a signed and dated explanation detailing the new event/circumstance.
It is of critical importance that all questions below be answered truthfully. Because of the high ethical standards to which lawyers are held, the failure to disclose an act or event such as the ones described in the questions below is often more significant, and leads to more serious consequences, than the act or event itself. Failure to provide truthful answers, or failure to inform the Admission Office of any changes to your answers, may result in revocation of admission or disciplinary action by the Law School, or denial of permission to practice law by the state in which you seek admission. If you are in doubt, disclose.
****1. Academic Misconduct. Have you ever been investigated, suspended, expelled, or disciplined, formally or informally, by any school, college, or university above the high school level? This includes academic probation.

You must include criminal and/or juvenile matters that have been expunged.)
